Financials

Shepherd’s makes every effort to reduce agency overhead by utilizing contract therapists so that the bulk of our resources can go directly to programs that serve our clients.  We would like the community to know that funds are used wisely for the benefit of those people we serve.

Key Goals
1. Increase financial assistance available to support low-income clients
2. Increase the number of clients benefiting from Shepherd’s therapy services

Shepherd’s Commitment to Our Clients
At Shepherd’s we individualize our therapy methods to best meet each client’s needs. We have never discontinued therapy due to a client’s inability to pay. We are committed to seeing each client through the lengthy and challenging process of healing from the complex effects of child sexual abuse.

What Makes Our Services Possible
The commitment and support of individuals and foundations have ensured the vital life saving services to adult survivors of child sexual abuse in our community. Grants from organizations like United Way and government agencies often dictate to their grant recipients the therapeutic approach taken to treat clients and the amount of therapy provided, for example a limit of 10 sessions. This restricts the clinical resources that could be used to help sexual abuse survivors recover their lives from the very complex psychological impacts of this childhood trauma.

Your unrestricted gift to Shepherd’s Counseling Services allows us to serve clients in the way that provides them the best help and therapy for their individuals needs, and gives us critically needed resources to reach to out more survivors of child sexual abuse.

I spent nearly a lifetime telling myself that I was strong enough to overcome my history. I bought books, tried different counselors, ran myself ragged trying to outpace my fears, my insecurities, my self-doubt. But I couldn’t.

Eventually, I couldn’t run fast enough and when I stopped running, my emotional world began to close in on me.
