A Review of our 2007 Fall Community Event:
Panel Discussion with Special Guests
A professional panel discussion
with documentary filmmaker, Ethan Delavan.
The Film
Ethan Delavan has created a film that speaks honestly and respectfully
of the challenging journey as men find hope and help facing the impact
left in their lives from sexual abuse as children. This film, Stories
of Silence: Recovering from Boyhood Sexual Abuse, provides an authentic
voice that beautifully weaves education and hope throughout.
This film follows conversations with eight men – with additional perspectives of therapists, counselors, and a neuroscience researcher from the Talaris Institute – to discover the process of how limitations that are placed in the lives of adults by the extensive trauma of this experience.
This is a rare opportunity to begin to understand, through safe and honest conversations, how it is that so many of these children face profound challenges in adulthood with relationships, substance abuse, anger, learning and parenting.
With Ethan’s own story as a backdrop, Stories of Silence travels through three stages of recovery, from victim to survivor to voice. This project includes the sorrowful, courageous, triumphant and joyful voices of many others. It is a story of hope – hope that springs forth when the silence is broken.
Take a look at the film website here.
