Survivors need your financial help to heal from the lasting impact of childhood sexual abuse.

I had no idea how much those early childhood experiences of abuse affected every aspect of my life.
Without Shepherd's help I can only imagine where I would be today.

~ a forever grateful client

Your gift gives back to adults what was stolen from them in their youth -

their voices, hope, truth, life.

Please send your support today so more people can find new possibilities for life.

The sexually abused can overcome.

With my own eyes and in my own experience I have seen the proof lived out hundreds of times.

The child sexually abused at home can triumph over the tragedy and can complete the footrace of life and win.

A Survivor's Story
I am a 39 year-old survivor of child sexual abuse.

I spent nearly a lifetime telling myself that I was strong enough to overcome my history. I bought books, tried different counselors, ran myself ragged trying to outpace my fears, my insecurities, my self-doubt. But I couldn’t.

Eventually I couldn’t run fast enough to get away from myself, and when I stopped running my emotional world began to close in on me.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not grateful to Shepherd’s and to Sister Vera for giving me my life. It’s something I have never had before.

Outstanding Donor Support Met the 2007 Year-End Match Challenge!

THANK YOU for your belief in the value of this work and for lending your generous financial support to our clients' commitment to healing! In a phenomenal expression of support for adults who were sexually abused in childhood, this community joined together and reached out to raise over $62,000 in year-end donations.

A Special Thank You
We extend a special thank you to Bill Fleckenstein and his colleague who each offered to match donations up to $10,000. Inspired by your generosity, they each increased their financial contributions to match all donations from the readers of Bill's online column, Contrarian Chronicles, which totaled $16,442! This doubled the funds available to support our clients this year as they courageously come to us for help in healing.

These donations will be used in 2008 to:

• Increase financial assistance to clients in need,

• Increase community awareness of our services to increase the number of clients served, and

• Increase public knowledge of the impact of childhood sexual abuse in order to help break the cycle of abuse.

100% of our Board of Directors made a financial gift to Shepherd's in Dec. 2007. Thank you!

GoodSearch and GoodShop
GoodSearch, a Google-type internet search engine that gives $1 per search back to charity, has expanded its services. You can now shop online through GoodShop at many of your favorite stores. And if you indicate Shepherd's Counseling Services as your designated charity, we will receive the indicated percentage of your shopping purchase back from GoodShop as a donation to our programs. The percentages donated back to the organization are small, but every little bit helps. Your donation percentage through this purchase is not tax-deductible. But, if you are going to be shopping anyway, it is wonderful if our clients can benefit at no extra cost to you. This is a great added way to increase our funding for services in addition to your usual tax-deductible gifts.
