Jill Armitage

Development Director

Jill Armitage, a part of Shepherd's Counseling Services since June of 2007, brings 20 years of experience working with nonprofit and public organizations. She has been the principal consultant and owner of Profunda Consulting since 2000, assisting organizations with critical transitioning, the development of strategic fundraising plans and maximizing efficiency.

Jill has 10 years of program development, training and management experience, which she applies to create a fundraising program that is respectful and collaborative in the work of the organization as a whole. In the mid-1990s she coordinated a volunteer-based program to provide support and advocacy for adults who had been sexually abused as children and/or as adults. She provided extensive training throughout the community on sexual harassment and sexual assault.

"I'm pleased to support the deeply meaningful impact of Shepherd's in the lives of many unique and extraordinary individuals in our community," Jill says. "I feel privileged to work with such a caring, professional staff and Board of Directors and to be associated with the particularly dedicated and thoughtful donors who support Shepherd's." She recognizes that it is because of the contributions of Shepherd's community of support that this successful and much-needed organization continues to make a difference in our community and so many individual lives.

Professional memberships include the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Washington Chapter, and Philanthropy Northwest.

Lynn Bernstein

Clinical Supervisor

As the Clinical Supervisor Lynn states, "The most powerful indication for change I have experienced while being a part of Shepherd's is the strength and personal determination each individual brings at the time of the first call when they say out loud "'I want to live life differently'. I take this statement as a compelling message and do my best in return to provide the services to get each person there."

While holding great respect, and with their integrity in mind, Lynn collaborates with each client in choosing the best services possible while here at Shepherd's. Those choices include individual therapy, men's or women's therapy groups, partner groups and couples therapy all led by credentialed and highly trained therapists.

Alicia Cole

Office Manager

Alicia Cole handles the office management duties including reception, bookkeeping and client account management. Her goal is to streamline the administrative responsibilities at Shepherd's so that clients served will be able to move forward unhindered in their healing process. Alicia says, "I enjoy being part of the warm, friendly environment that Shepherd's cultivates for its staff, therapists and clients."

Janice Palm

Executive Director

The executive director's role at Shepherd's Counseling Services is to lead, cultivate and keep the agency alive in order to ensure that the agency's mission "to provide quality and affordable therapeutic services to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse" is carried out to its fullest potential.

For Janice, the duties go one step more: To protect and respect the clients. "I am extremely vigilant and respectful of the work that clients do here," she says. By making sure that Shepherd's core value of unwavering respect for the dignity of all people permeates the clinical and administrative culture of the agency, Janice says, "it ultimately radiates to the clients we are privileged to serve."

It is Janice's work as a therapist that fuels her passion and resolve to ensure that programs, administration, board function and staff development work in concert to provide the greatest possibility of stability and effectiveness. Shepherd's has a tremendous responsibility and challenge in providing a very expensive service at very affordable rates -- and a record of success that shows that it works.
